Yamaha Motor is a Japanese motorcycle maker based in Iwata, spun off from the instrument maker Nippon Gakki in 1955. It introduced the Monoshock rear suspension on its 1970s YZ motocross bikes and the first modern four-stroke motocrosser, the YZ400F, and it still builds two-stroke YZs alongside its YZ-F, WR and TT-R models.
